Rob has over 20 years experience in business management, technology commercialisation and venture capital investment. He spent the early part of his career with ICI and DuPont encompassing various roles in commercial management, sales, marketing and R&D before becoming a director of Micap PLC and playing an integral role in the flotation of the company on AIM in 2003 (Merseyside’s first biotech IPO).

In recent years, Rob has worked in the venture capital sector, initially with Liverpool Ventures (an investor in early-stage technology companies linked to MSIF’s £27m Liverpool Seed Fund) before becoming Managing Director of Techtran Group Ltd (a subsidiary of IP Group PLC). At Techtran, Rob was responsible for commercialising and investing in spinout companies emerging from leading Universities. Rob has a first class degree in Chemical Physics from the University of Bristol, a PhD in Materials Structure from the University of Liverpool and a Business Masters degree (with distinction) from the University of Warwick.

Rob joined MTI as a Venture Partner in October 2009.
